UW Extended Campus has been a leader in helping the UW System deliver Internet-based distance learning courses for more than 15 years. Our division partners with UW institutions to provide program development, student recruitment and retention services, course design, media production, IT support, and marketing for online degree programs. We create these online collaborative degree programs in rapidly emerging 21st century career sectors such as Applied Computing, Data Science, Health Information Management and Technology, Sustainable Management, Healthcare Administration, and Health and Wellness Management. In 2013, UW-Extension and the CEOEL office (now UW Extended Campus) began working with institutions to offer competency-based degrees called the UW Flexible Option. With the launch of UW Flexible Option in 2014, the University of Wisconsin System became the first public higher educational system to offer a competency-based education.
