As senior associate dean, John is leading the University of Wisconsin-Extension through the accreditation process that will enable the institution to grant its first degree. John is a member of the Institutional Actions Council of the Higher Learning Commission (HLC) of the North Central Association—the largest of the seven regional accreditation associations in higher education—where he serves as a team chair in the HLC Peer Review Corp.
John also guides the growth and expansion of the award-winning University Learning Store, where everyone from entry-level employees to seasoned executives can acquire new career skills. The innovative, online retail store offers a faster, more convenient, and affordable way to learn new skills and earn meaningful credentials from some of the nation’s top universities.
Prior to joining UW-Extension, John served as the dean of the School of Graduate Studies and Continuing Education at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, the institution’s primary outreach arm that annually provides programming for 30,000 constituents across southeastern Wisconsin.
He received his master’s degree and doctorate in speech communication from the University of Minnesota and his baccalaureate in communication from Gustavus Adolphus College.
