George serves as assistant dean for program development and management for the Continuing Education division of the University of Wisconsin-Extension. Through Continuing Education offices on 26 campuses, UW-Extension resources reach people throughout the state of Wisconsin. George plays a leadership role in providing education opportunities that meet the needs of both traditional and nontraditional students.
George has 25 years experience in leadership, communication, fundraising, program development and management in for-profit, nonprofit and higher education organizations. Most recently, he served as director of continuing education at UW-Eau Claire, where he assisted in the planning of the collaborative online bachelor of professional studies degree completion program which launched in fall 2011.
Previously, George served as executive director of Be Active Minnesota and director of Medical and Community Education for the Minneapolis Heart Institute Foundation.
He earned his Master of Public Health from the University of Northern Colorado with specializations in health education and public health administration. Previously, he earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh, majoring in adult health and fitness/exercise physiology with a concentration in business administration.
His certifications include Certified Contract Trainer (CCT) through the Learning Resources Network and Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) through the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing.
